Still waiting on the Tennessee story – it’s after 1am so I’ll post it in the morning! Here is the Tennessee version.Coach Patrick: “As a team, we have to learn how to take matches more seriously sooner. We have a tendency to only start fighting when we are too far behind to come back. We have to stop playing like a young team. I’m very disappointed in this match, because I thought we had taken some great strides in the last week.“
There’s only one option to keep up with tonight’s match vs Mississippi State short of making the trip to Starkville. You can follow live stats and the score using the MSU’s GameWatcher page.
Tennessee begins the second half of their SEC schedule this weekend with a two match road trip. Mississippi State, Alabama, and the Lady Vols have posted match notes on their websites, which include rosters, team information, statistics, and other interesting facts.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel ran an article this week about Lady Vol sophomore Leah Hinkey. The piece discusses the expectations around her being the one to fill the shoes of Tennessee’s all-time leader in blocks Sarah Blum, who graduated after last season. Also, Coach Patrick is interviewed and talks about Hinkey stepping up to become one of the team’s leaders this year.
Congratulations to Tennessee libero Chloe Goldman who was named the Lady Vol Athlete of the Week!

Tennessee almost forced another match to five games but fell just short of the comeback, falling to Louisville 3-1 (30-25, 26-30, 30-18, 30-26). I’m still in Kentucky so will post the story and stats Wednesday (or just check out the official Lady Vols site later tonight).
UPDATE: Tennessee and Louisville have posted the details on the match.
Tennessee heads north to take on the (unofficially ranked) #26 Louisville Cardinals tonight. Louisville has planned a “Red-Out the Vols” promotion with free pompons being distributed to Cardinal fans – so any Tennessee fans going might want to add a little orange to the mix! I assume that Coach Patrick will not be making his regular Tuesday night radio appearance due to the match.
