Match Notes 2013: Auburn and Georgia (part one)
AUUGA

NOTES

  • Tennessee is 29-13-1 all-time vs Auburn. They are 8-2 in the last ten meetings and 9-1 in the last ten meetings in Knoxville. UT has a five match winning streak.
  • Tennessee is 42-25 all-time vs Georgia. They are 8-2 in the last ten meetings and 10-0 in the last ten meetings in Knoxville. UGA is looking to extend their last victory into a two match winning streak.
  • Neither opponent this weekend has ever won a match at Thompson Boling Arena.

AUBURN

  • Seven of Tennessee’s nine wins over Auburn in their last ten meetings at home have been sweeps.
  • Only three matches between the Lady Vols and the Tigers in the rally scoring era were decided in five sets; eight matches were sweeps for one or the other team, while nine matches took four sets.
  • Auburn has not won a five set match this season (0-3).

GEORGIA

  • Only one match between the Lady Vols and Georgia in the rally scoring era was decided in four sets; sixteen matches were sweeps for one or the other team, while eight matches took five sets.
  • The last time the Bulldogs won a match vs the Lady Vols in Knoxville was 2001. Tennessee has won eleven straight home matches since then, nine of which were sweeps.
  • Georgia’s sweep of UT earlier this season was their first in a decade.
  • Georgia has not lost a five set match this season (3-0).

SEC HALFWAY POINT

  • Tennessee has reached the halfway point in the shortened 18 games conference season.
  • With a 1-8 record, UT is off to the second worst start in SEC matches in school history. (The 1995 went winless in conference play.) But things may start looking up from here…
  • Since the move to a 20 match SEC schedule in 2006 (changed to 18 matches this year), the Lady Vols have matched or exceeded their first half record every season but the first.
