Tennessee fights back in Georgia

The Lady Vols completed a big comeback vs Georgia this afternoon to get a five-set victory (19-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-11). The last time UT came back from 0-2 was 2015. Before today they’d only done it six times in the 2000s, and seventeen times in school history. The last time they did it vs Georgia was 2012. More tonight!

UPDATE: Tessa Grubbs had a match leading and career high 27 kills. Erica Treiber had 16 kills and hit .520. Lily Felts had 13 kills. Addisyn Rowe’s 8 blocks were the most by any player on the court. Alyssa Andreno had 6. Sedona Hansen put up 36 assists. Callie Williams had 17. Brooke Schumacher dug up 24 balls. Felts completed her third double-double with 10 digs.

The Lady Vols’ 71 kills were their most in a match this season, and the 3rd most in a match since 2012.

Tennessee’s 2 wins this week bring their conference total to 9 so far this year — surpassing their best total of the previous five seasons. (1 SEC win in both 2013 and 2014, 7 wins in both 2015 and 2016, and 5 wins last year.) With only 7 league contests remaining, UT is guaranteed to at least not have another losing SEC record for the first time since 2012.

Over half of Georgia’s SEC games this season have gone to five sets. Out of 11 total matches, they’ve played 7 five-setters and lost 5.
