Tennessee earns Coaches Poll ranking and SEC awards

The Lady Vols are ranked #25 in this week’s AVCA Coaches Poll. This is the first time the team has earned a spot in the poll since September 2012.

Two Tennessee players also earned recognition from the conference. Tessa Grubbs is the Offensive Player of the Week and the overall Player of the Week, while Addisyn Rowe picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors. Grubbs’ overall award is the first by a Lady Vol since the league started handing it out in 2015. Her offensive award is the first by a UT player since Leslie Cikra’s 2012 recognition. Rowe’s defensive award is the school’s first since Raina Hembry’s in 2015.

  • “Tennessee’s Tessa Grubbs averaged 5.38 points and 5.13 kills per set and posted a .323 hitting percentage over two conferences wins this past week. She tallied a career-high 27 kills in the come-from-behind win at Georgia, with 15 kills coming in final three sets, including five kills on eight swings with no errors (.625) in the fifth set.”
  • “Tennessee’s Addisyn Rowe averaged 1.25 blocks per set in a 2-0 week for the Lady Volunteers. She registered a career-high eight blocks in the victory at Georgia on Sunday, with her final block assist ending the match at 15-11 in the fifth set.”
