2014 Recap: vs Texas A&M and Alabama
  • UT is 6-5 all-time vs Texas A&M. This was Tennessee’s fifth loss in a row vs a ranked opponent.
  • UT is 33-14 vs Alabama. Tennessee had not lost a match in Knoxville since 2007.
  • Tennessee had some lower than their norm statistics vs Texas A&M. (All numbers are since the rally-scoring era began in 2001.) The Lady Vols only had two total team blocks, which is their second lowest total. UT only dug up 24 balls, also their second lowest total, and the first time since 2003 the team was under 30 in a match. With just 23 assists, Tennessee had their fifth lowest total. And their 87 attack attempts were the 11th fewest.
  • The Alabama match was the fifth highest attended home match in program history, with 1,780 on hand.

  • UT’s ten aces vs the Tide are the tenth most served up since 2001. It’s just the second time the team had had double digit aces since 2008.
  • Kelsey Bawcombe accounted for half of those aces, which is the eighth most of the rally scoring era. No one has had more in a single match since 2007, and only two others have had more since 2002.
  • Tennessee’s four set loss vs Alabama prevented them from matching their rally-scoring era record for most losses by sweeps in a row.
